Mission and Vision

Our Mission: Delivering healthy meals and friendshipneighbor to neighbor

Our Vision: A New Mexico where every neighbor in every community is nourished

Who We Are

Founded by a group of women from Albuquerque’s Presbyterian churches in 1972, Meals on Wheels New Mexico was created to provide nutrition, compassion, and friendship to homebound neighbors. What started with 40 volunteers and 20 clients, has grown to 300 volunteers delivering to 2,000 clients each year! Meals on Wheels New Mexico has a heart for keeping neighbors happy, healthy, and in the comfort of their own homes. As a trusted organization deeply rooted in our community, we understand the value of independence and the importance of maintaining a sense of belonging. Through our dedicated team of compassionate volunteers, we not only provide nutritious meals but also extend a warm hand of support and companionship to those we serve. With a focus on promoting well-being and enhancing quality of life, Meals on Wheels New Mexico is committed to ensuring that neighbors can thrive in the place they call home.

What We Do

Meals on Wheels New Mexico is the only home delivered meal program in our area preparing special diets for anyone, of any age, for any reason. Our team prepares these special diets to meet the nutritional needs of our clients with medical issues such as diabetes, renal failure, heart issues, chewing and swallowing problems and more. We have no service restrictions based on age or disability and can provide meals for as long as a client needs us.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, we are able to provide varying subsidies for many of the clients we serve. On average, 85% of our clients receive free or reduced cost meals. We remain committed to maintaining this financial support, so our meals remain not simply available, but accessible to the people who need them.
