Individual Volunteers

Individual volunteers are the backbone of Meals on Wheels New Mexico! With over 300 volunteers who staff different sites in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, participate in fundraising activities, work in the kitchen or office, and/or deliver meals to the homebound to provide social interaction — we have something that will fit your interests and time availability! Come spend a few hours, once a week with us and make a difference for hungry neighbors in your community!


Drivers: Deliver nutrition and friendship to clients. Check on client well-being and report any needs back to the office. Drivers use their own vehicles and gas. Mileage driven is tax deductible.

  • One day a week; Monday – Friday OR substitute (when needed)
  • Shifts: Pick up times vary between 10, 10:30, or 11am
  • Location: Presbyterian Northside, Rust Medical Center, or South Valley Economic Development Center

Kitchen: Help the kitchen team pack or label food items for delivery to clients.

  • One day a week; Monday through Friday
  • Shifts: 7 - 9am or 9- 10am
  • Location: Presbyterian Northside

Program Office Administration: Help the administrative team with copying, data entry, filing, stuffing envelopes, and other office clerical duties.

  • One day a week; Monday - Friday
  • Shifts: hours are flexible; 1-2 hours
  • Location: Presbyterian Northside

Site Coordinators: Be a liaison between drivers and the Meals on Wheels New Mexico Office. Help drivers troubleshoot issues, resolve problems, and make calls to clients when they miss their meals.

  • One day a week; Monday – Friday OR substitute (when needed)
  • Shifts: 9:30AM – 1:30PM
  • Location: Presbyterian Northside or Rust Medical Center

Special Events and Speaker’s Bureau: Volunteers are needed to assist in the planning and execution of various fundraisers, as well as to help table at fairs or community events, or speak with various civic or religious groups throughout the year. Corporate Volunteers

Many businesses and civic groups are interested in having an opportunity to give back to the communities in which they work and live. Joining the Meals on Wheels New Mexico VIP Driver Program gives companies, civic, or religious organizations across the metro area a tremendous volunteer opportunity for their employees and members.

About the Meals on Wheels New Mexico Corporate VIP Driver Program

  • The organization delivers once per week
  • Delivery teams are typically made up of a pair of drivers who deliver between 10:30am - 12:30pm
  • Typically, teams can be set up so that a given individual delivers meals once a month or less
  • One individual at your company/organization acts as the Team Coordinator and is the liaison with Meals on Wheels New Mexico
