Lin and Bodhi Comfort Each Other.
Your generosity provides your neighbors with so much more than a meal. You deliver comfort and companionship that is simply life changing. Lin, a new client and former speech-language pathologist, is a great example of your compassion in action.
Lin lives with physical disabilities and diabetes and relies on Meals on Wheels to help her eat more regularly and substantially. Her two pets, Bodhi the dog and Maite the cat, are her world. “They mean everything to me… they saved my life,” she shared. Bodhi, an anxious eleven-year-old rescue, needs help with walking and grooming. Because of her physical limitations, Lin struggled to provide this care, which she confided made her “feel really sad.”
But thanks to friends like you, the Pet Pals program has transformed heartache into hope. Lin says Pet Pals has been a lifeline for both of them, since she’s no longer able to care for Bodhi on her own. Today, he happily goes on walks and receives mobile grooming thanks to you. Maite also receives important veterinary care through Pet Pals, keeping all members of the family healthy and happy.
When asked what her pets mean to her, Lin summed it up best, “They really help with loneliness, which is a part of depression. They provide me with comfort, a purpose.”
