Viola's Story…
When you support Meals on Wheels New Mexico, you're doing more than delivering meals—you’re nourishing lives and helping seniors like Viola maintain their independence.
Viola, a 90-year-old mother and grandmother from Peñasco, proudly displays gifts from her family in her home, a place rich with memories. The pictures of her family line the walls, a testament to a life rich in family and love. Viola told us she doesn't feel ninety: "Age does not mean anything, it's how you feel," she explained. Your generosity is what keeps Viola not just surviving, but truly thriving.
After dedicating 34 years to helping others as a Human Services worker, she now relies on the meals you provide. Today, she isn’t as mobile as she once was. "I can't stand for long," she explained, so the meals you provide "help a lot." Viola doesn't have to worry about what's in the fridge or how she'll prepare her next meal. "I'm thankful that I can still live in my house," she says, a simple but profound declaration of her independence.
This is the power of your kindness. You are not just delivering food; you are delivering security, and, importantly, dignity. Thank you for supporting Meals on Wheels and wonderful people like Viola!
