Local Harvest
The Local Harvest program allows Meals on Wheels New Mexico to support our local farmers, local economy, and environment. We purchase fresh produce and packaged foods from local farmers and producers to improve the nutritional value of our meals.
The local food movement is about creating thriving community-based food systems that make high quality, local food available to everyone—including our homebound clients. Local Harvest allows our clients to enjoy nutritious food, grown by people in the communities we live in. It’s about developing strong, local economies and eating seasonally- allowing our clients even more opportunities to enjoy the services we provide.
Local Harvest is donor supported. Your donations keep our clients healthy while supporting the local agricultural economy.

All clients are eligible to receive free pet food, veterinary care, mobile grooming, and dog walking thanks to generous donations.
Items provided for pets include:
- Pet food
- Treats
- Toys
- Bedding
- Leashes
- Basic veterinary care

Weekend Pantry Box
Our Weekend Pantry Box program helps our clients maintain consistent food access on days we normally don’t deliver. This collaboration with Roadrunner Food Bank provides us small boxes of shelf stable, non-perishable items that are delivered to our clients once a month.
Boxes include items like crackers, pudding cups, microwavable meals and more.

Newspaper Program
Through a partnership with The Albuquerque Journal, Meals on Wheels provides free newspapers to clients with meal delivery. Local newspapers enhance community interaction and connectedness for our clients who are homebound.
