Over half of our clients report that our volunteers are the only people they see on a daily basis. Please meet Charlie, a vivacious man with a heart of gold and immeasurable perspective.
Charlie is 92 years old. His youthful smile can light up any room.
When he came to Meals on Wheels of Albuquerque, he was looking for stability. Due to health complications, he was having difficulty on his feet and needed some help with his food.
Now, our meals have allowed him to keep firmly planted in his home—the home he built himself over 55 years ago—and our volunteers check on him daily to ensure that he remains healthy and independent.
Charlie values the kindness of the volunteers who bring him his meals, and he is impressed by the thoughtful preparation of our meals. Everything we deliver is expertly crafted and medically-tailored by a group of professionally-trained chefs and a registered dietician.
Charlie says he owes his longevity to eating a good breakfast and highly-nutritious meals—like the ones he gets from Meals on Wheels.
He is grateful for our services and considers himself to be “the luckiest homegrown farm boy in the Southwest!”
