We Deliver Peace of Mind.

Meals on Wheels New Mexico is the ONLY home delivered meals program in New Mexico that serves medically-tailored meals and serves any one of any age. We offer eight different meal types:

  • Regular (No Dietary Restrictions)
  • Heart Healthy (Low Sodium)
  • Diabetic
  • Renal/Dialysis
  • Vegetarian
  • Textured Diets for those with difficulty chewing or swallowing:
    • Pre-Cut
    • Mechanically Softened
    • Pureed

A dietitian reviews our meals to make sure they are in line with the needs of our clients. View a sample menu here.

We also offer both breakfast and dinner options to our Private Pay clients. Breakfast includes a chilled main dish such as: an omelet, pancakes with butter and syrup, assorted cereals with milk, yogurt and granola, etc. Dinner includes a sandwich (such as Chicken Waldorf, Ham and Cheese, Tuna Nicoise, or Sliced Turkey) and a side. These meals are considered appropriate for those receiving a regular, heart healthy, or diabetic diet.

Delivered by Caring Individuals

For clients within the Albuquerque Metro, Corrales, and Rio Rancho areas, we offer face-to-face deliveries. Meals are delivered between 10:30am and 1:00pm, Monday – Friday by a friendly volunteer. The volunteer drops off the meal, provides a friendly face, and a wellness check. This provides peace of mind for families and emotional support to the client. Daily visits from a volunteer can provide relief from depression and the fear that often comes with isolation.

Clients outside the areas listed above are eligible to receive frozen meals directly to their door through our drop-ship program.

Any Age, Any Reason…

We offer both long-term and short-term services. Whether you or a family member can no longer cook for yourself or if you are simply recovering from surgery or illness, Meals on Wheels New Mexico can help.

Special Diet

Meals on Wheels New Mexico offers eight different types of special diets to meet your individual nutritional needs. All special diets are available as either frozen or hot meals. We work with a registered dietitian to help plan nutritious meals which meet your individual dietary needs.

1. Regular (No Dietary Restrictions)

Our regular diet has no dietary restrictions and is good for those who may be suffering from malnutrition or who do not enough on a regular basis.

2. Heart Healthy

Our heart-healthy diet is designed to be lower in fat, cholesterol, and sodium while higher in fiber to aid in preventing cardiovascular disease.

3. Diabetic

Our diabetic diet provides the recommended amount of carbohydrates to achieve the best balance of starches to help maintain good blood sugar levels.

4. Renal/Dialysis

Individuals with renal insufficiency, or those who undergo dialysis, would benefit from this diet. This diet provides necessary protein while being low in potassium, phosphorus, and salt.

5. Vegetarian

The vegetarian diet is intended for individuals wanting to limit or exclude foods from animal sources. The main entrée includes no red meat, poultry or fish.

6. Pre-Cut (Textured)

The pre-cut diet includes food chopped to 1/2″ or smaller to promote ease of chewing.

7. Mechanical Soft (Textured)

The mechanical soft diet includes foods ground or mashed to promote ease of chewing.

8. Pureed (Textured)

The pureed diet is used for individuals who have difficulty chewing or swallowing. This diet minimizes the need for chewing and eases the swallowing of food.

Meals on Wheels is committed to your privacy. We never sell our donor, volunteer, or client lists to any third party companies.
