Steve has been a Meals on Wheels client for three years. An inspiring storyteller with a near-photographic memory, Steve used to work in radio where he gained celebrity with his talk show in Colorado.

Today, Steve is on oxygen due to trouble with his lungs. His activity is limited, but thanks to you, he can still eat well in his own home, living out the life he began in Albuquerque more than 20 years ago

“When you are disabled, it’s a great thing to know someone’s going to bring you food,” said Steve. “When you’re healthy, you don’t think about things like that.”

Steve enjoys meaningful relationships with his Meals on Wheels volunteers. “As a disabled person, you don’t expect the person at the door to be your friend,” said Steve. “But they are. They take time with you and ask you questions. I love the program.”

So do Steve’s two daughters. Thanks to your generosity, they are reassured that someone checks on him regularly. These visits are crucial as 80% of Meals on Wheels clients have no visitors other than a volunteer.

Steve feels grateful. “I like the fact that there are people out there in the world willing to contribute to a program like this that helps people like me.”

Thank you for your support, which brings hope and good humor to people like Steve who have so much wisdom and love to offer this world.
